The Wolf Den

FEB 28th, 2025 11 days ago and 1100 days after Russia's invasion of Ukraine, President Zelenskyy met with Trump in the Oval Office.

About The Wolf Den

This experience site is a direct artistic response to the events in The White House on February 28th, 2025 – one of modern times' greatest political embarrassments.

Whilst the media's gaze has largely focused on the recordings of the encounter, The Wolf Den invites viewers to explore the charged atmosphere from a different perspective:

  • Consider the symbolism of choosing to meet a vulnerable visitor only in a space of manufactured dominance, surrounded by silent and vocal observers who serve as both witness and warning.

  • Observe the complex interplay between perceived strength and underlying vulnerability, as those in the room navigate between loyalty and recognition of a leader's mounting desperation.

  • Reflect on how quickly the dynamics shift when those who prey on weakness detect it, even in an environment carefully orchestrated for control. Trump is not the only predator in the room. What will happen when the others sense his weakness?

With The Wolf Den we seek to explore the margins rather than the center of this historical moment.

The experience site opens on the 11th of March 2025, on the day in which Ukraine and the US meet for the first time since the embarrassing encounter in The White House.

This also happens to be the day when Greenland votes for their government (a defining step in their journey towards independence) which Trump is planning to misuse. Which is why this work is deliberately hosted on Greenland's .gl domain.

The two wolves – A Cherokee story

A young boy came to his Grandfather, filled with anger at another boy who had done him an injustice.

The old Grandfather said to his grandson, "Let me tell you a story. I too, at times, have felt a great hate for those that have taken so much, with no sorrow for what they do. But hate wears you down, and hate does not hurt your enemy. Hate is like taking poison and wishing your enemy would die. I have struggled with these feelings many times."

"It is as if there are two wolves inside me; one wolf is good and does no harm. He lives in harmony with all around him and does not take offence when no offence was intended. He will only fight when it is right to do so, and in the right way. But the other wolf, is full of anger. The littlest thing will set him into a fit of temper."

"He fights everyone, all the time, for no reason. He cannot think because his anger and hate are so great. It is helpless anger, because his anger will change nothing. Sometimes it is hard to live with these two wolves inside me, because both of the wolves try to dominate my spirit."

The boy looked intently into his Grandfather's eyes and asked, "Which wolf will win, Grandfather?"

The Grandfather smiled and said, "The one I feed."
